Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record A Roswell man who allegedly fired two rounds at a vehicle in which three children were passengers was arrested Thursday on an outstanding warrant. Alfonso Rodriguez (Submitted Photo) Police found and arrested Alfonso Rodriguez, 22, Thursday at a 200 block of Poplar Avenue residence. Todd Wildermuth, public information officer with the Roswell Police Department, said Monday officers went to the residence after learning that Rodriguez was at the address. He was taken into custody without incident. An arrest warrant was issued Dec. 13 for Rodriguez on one count of criminal damage to property, over $1,000; as well as two counts each of shooting at or from a motor vehicle, no great bodily harm; and conspiracy to commit shooting at or from a motor vehicle, no great bodily harm, according to electronic court records.

An hours-long standoff Saturday between a motorist and local law enforcement ended with an arrest. Manuel Zavala (Submitted Photo) Manuel Zavala, 26, of Roswell, was taken into custody and charged with one count each of aggravated assault on a peace officer and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer, according to documents filed Monday in Chaves County Magistrate Court. For several hours late Saturday afternoon and into the evening, Zavala remained inside his black Dodge Charger at the intersection of One Horse Road and Capitan Road. Court documents state deputies and at least one Roswell police officer tried without success to convince Zavala to surrender.

Copyright © 2021 Roswell Daily Record A Carlsbad man faces criminal charges after he allegedly just missed striking a Chaves County deputy’s vehicle on U.S. 285 while driving in the opposing lane of traffic. Frankie Thomas Granger, 27, was arrested at about midnight Wednesday, according to court documents filed in Chaves County Magistrate Court. He was subsequently charged with one count each of aggravated driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, refused testing; driving on divided highways; consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages in open containers in a motor vehicle, prohibited; and driving on revoked license with an arrest clause.
