One more solar power plant with 15 megawatt installed generation capacity of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) was synchronised with the grid on Wednesday, taking the total solar capacity of the company to be linked to the grid to 85 mw so far.
According to officials of SCCL, the 15 mw plant in Ramagundam-3 area was inaugurated as the second plant of total 50 mw capacity. The first plant with similar installed capacity of 15 mw was synchronised with the grid on November 27 last year, taking the total capacity installed to 30 mw so far. The synchronisation of the 15 mw plant on Wednesday also takes the total installed capacity to 85 mw out of the 129 mw planned in the first phase. Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) is constructing 1,478 residential quarters for its employees in Bhupalapalli, Sathupalli and Jaipur as part of an assurance given by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, of getting new quarters constructed.
According to the company officials, the construction of double-bedroom quarters with all basic amenities was under way and all the quarters were expected to be completed by the year-end. Many quarters were already in the advanced stage of construction/completion. The company has taken up construction of 994 quarters at Bhupalapalli, 352 at Sathupalli and 132 at Jaipur near Singareni Thermal Power Project with an estimated cost of ₹333 crore. As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) is planning to provide training to the youth interested in joining the Indian Army by making them competitive with 45-day training at 11 places spread across six districts where the coal mines of the company are operational.
The training programme would be conducted by Singareni Seva Samithi for about 550 interested youth, who include the children of Singareni workers, former and retired workers, project affected families, nearby villages and coal belt areas. It would be a pre-army recruitment intensive training aimed at helping the youth participate in the army recruitment rally to be held on March 5.

A tripartite agreement on the open access to solar power generated in Manuguru area by Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) was signed on Friday between SCCL, Transmission Corporation of Telangana Ltd (TS-Transco) and Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TSNPDCL).
The agreement enables SCCL to avail the solar power generated in the 30 megawatt Manuguru area plant for its needs in Manuguru and Illendu areas through transmission and distribution lines of TS-Transco and the Northern Discom and the purchase of the remaining power by the discom.
