With COVID-19 restrictions being lifted across the state and with St. Patrick’s Day coming up on Wednesday, Maryland State Police are urging those who plan to celebrate with alcohol to be safe and smart and avoid impaired, distracted and aggressive driving.
With an increase in impaired drivers expected throughout the state the next two weekends, state police will be conducting saturation patrols at each of the 23 barracks focusing on impaired, aggressive and distracted driving. Enforcement over the next two weeks will be bolstered by impaired driving saturation patrol funds from the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s Highway Safety Office.

PORT DEPOSIT â Investigators have identified 33-year-old Steven James Ward as the man found dead last week near Port Deposit, which is the area in which he had lived, a Cecil County Sheriffâs Office spokesman said Tuesday.
Agency detectives are still awaiting autopsy results to shed light on the cause of Wardâs death, according to CCSO Lt. Michael Holmes, who noted that Wardâs autopsy was performed over the weekend at the State Medical Examinerâs Office in Baltimore.
âThere were no outward signs of trauma to the body to indicate that foul play had occurred,â Holmes said, adding that the medical examinerâs office will not release the official cause of Wardâs death until additional tests are completed, as part of the autopsy.
