Minister Saeed Ghani says academic institutions will continue online classes amid surge in Covid-19 cases

KARACHI:
Amid rising coronavirus cases in Sindh, the provincial government has decided to extend the closure of schools that were shut on April 26.
Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said in a statement on Sunday that on-campus classes in all public and private educational institutions will remain suspended due to the alarming Covid-19 situation.
He said 50 per cent of school staff including teachers and headmasters can be called for managing home learning activities and online classes.

Educational institutions across all districts of Karachi will stay closed till June 6.
On Saturday, the government announced that all private and public schools in 12 (out of 23) Sindh districts will stay closed. Those districts include Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Dadu, and Badin. More developments are expected on schools. This story will be updated throughout Saturday.
The decision was taken after the coronavirus infection rate in these areas rose above 5%.

Sindh [Pakistan], May 22 (ANI): The Sindh province of Pakistan has extended the coronavirus restrictions for another two weeks amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
A meeting of the Coronavirus Task Force was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Saturday, in which provincial ministers, medical experts, police officials and others attended, Geo News reported.
According to the Sindh CM s spokesperson, it was decided that tourist centres, Seaview and Hawke s Bay beaches and amusement parks will remain closed for another two weeks.
Walking tracks, however, will be kept open in Sindh.
