BARRIE, ONT. More people in Simcoe Muskoka can sign up for a COVID-19 vaccination Tuesday. Appointments are now available for those with at-risk conditions, including people with dementia, diabetes and sickle cell disease. Essential workers in Group Two can also sign up for a COVID-19 vaccination. This group includes those who can t work from home, including grocery store, restaurant and transportation workers. A complete list of Group 2 eligible workers is available here. Starting Thursday, anyone 40 or older will be able to book a shot anywhere in the province. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has multiple vaccination clinics open across the region seven days a week. They also have a same-day standby program to use up leftover doses of the vaccine at the end of the day. Anyone currently eligible to receive a vaccine can get on the standby list for their first dose only.
BARRIE, ONT. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) reports another dip in COVID-19 infections as Ontario s stay-at-home order is expected to be extended yet again. The Simcoe Muskoka health unit logged 40 new COVID-19 infections Tuesday, plus one virus-related death. So far, in May, six Simcoe County residents have lost their lives after contracting the disease. The region s medical officer of health said roughly 50 per cent of Tuesday s reported cases are among residents under the age of 35. As infection rates drop across the region, there has been an increase in variants of concern. The health unit reports cases of the P.1 strain, originally from Brazil, jumped from 22 two weeks ago to 76. There are 17 confirmed cases of the B.1.351 mutation, originally from South Africa.

The local health unit added four new cases of COVID-19 and three recoveries in the District of Muskoka today(Tuesday).
Two cases, one 18 to 34-year-old and one 65 to 79 year old both female, were added in Bracebridge which now stands at 14 active cases.
Two cases, one 18 to 34-year-old male and one 45 to 64-year-old female, were reported in Huntsville which now also stands at 14 active cases.
All three recoveries were added in Muskoka Lakes placing that town at 21 active cases including one in hospital.
No change was reported in the rest of Muskoka on Tuesday with Lake of Bays remaining at four active cases, Gravenhurst at seven and Georgian Bay at three including one in hospital.

Six new cases of COVID-19 and five recoveries were reported in the District of Muskoka over the weekend.
One case, 17 or younger female, was added in Bracebridge, one, female 45 to 64 years old, was added in Huntsville and four cases were added in Muskoka Lakes, all male, two 45 to 64 year olds, one 35 to 44 and one 18 to 34 years old.
All five recoveries were from Muskoka lakes which now stands at 24 active cases, Bracebridge is at 12 active cases now and Huntsville is at 12 as well.
No change was reported in the rest of the district, with Lake of Bays still at four active cases, Gravenhurst at seven and Georgian Bay at three.
