10 new cases of COVID-19 in Muskoka Wednesday

SHARE ON: The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit recorded ten new COVID-19 cases and added six recoveries in the District of Muskoka on Wednesday.  Six cases were added in Bracebridge, two females and one male under 17 years old, one 18 to 34-year-old male, one 35 to 44-year-old female and one 45 to 64-year-old male. In addition, two more people from Bracebridge recovered placing the town at 23 active cases including one in hospital.  Huntsville saw two new cases added, one 35 to 44-year-old female and one 45 to 64-year-old male, and two more residents recovered keeping the town at 19 active cases.    One case was removed from Lake of Bays’ case count and one recovery was added bringing the town down to seven active cases. 

Health unit reports no change to Muskoka s COVID-19 Case count Tuesday

Bracebridge remains at 19 active cases including one in hospital.  19 cases remain active in Huntsville, nine in Lake of Bays, seven in Muskoka Lakes, nine in Gravenhurst and one in Georgian Bay.  108 new cases and 42 recoveries were reported in Simcoe placing the county at 1,480 active cases including 46 in hospital.  The weekly percent positivity in Muskoka, the percentage of tests coming back positive, is now at 6.1 percent, up from 4 percent last week.  Medical Officer of Health Dr. Charles Gardner also noted in today’s weekly update that for the first time ever, the District of Muskoka’s percent positivity is actually higher than Simcoe County’s. 

COVID-19 News: Number of Barrie Transit workers with COVID-19 doubles

  BARRIE, ONT. Three more employees of Barrie Transit have tested positive COVID-19, bringing the number of infected staff members to six. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit declared a workplace outbreak at Barrie Transit on Thursday, believing there could be a link between two cases. A spokesperson for the city of Barrie says the three latest cases have not been linked to the previous three, and they believe the risk of virus spread is low. Barrie Transit is operating at its usual service levels but with twice daily cleaning of buses. RELATED IMAGES
