QRCS provides food, clothing aid to nearly 200,000 beneficiaries [EN/AR] Format May 10th, 2021 ― Doha: The foreign representation missions of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have implemented the Ramadan Iftar, Zakat-ul-Fitr, and Eid Clothing projects in several countries during the holy month of Ramadan. These activities are part of QRCS’s Ramadan Campaign 1442 A.H., under the theme of “Race to All That Is Good”. All necessary preventive measures were taken to ensure the safety of the recipients, including masks and social distancing. In cooperation with the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), QRCS provided food aid in the provinces of Bamyan, Faryab, Kabul, and Paktika, in order to improve food security rates for the poorest, neediest, and most conflict- and disaster-affected populations.

QRCS expands lifesaving preventive, therapeutic nutrition services in northwestern Syria [EN/AR] Format April 27th, 2021 ― Doha: The representation office of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Turkey is implementing a project to provide lifesaving preventive and therapeutic nutrition in northern Syria. Done in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the project serves up to 115,000 population in the target areas. It commenced in February and is planned to last till December 2021. Its purpose is to save lives and reduce morbidity and mortality rates among young children and pregnant/breastfeeding women from the most vulnerable communities in the underserved northwestern parts of the country.

QRCS distributes food parcels to 42,516 vulnerable people in Bangladesh Format 26 Apr 2021 April 26th, 2021 ― Doha: Under its Ramadan Campaign 1442 A.H., Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is executing its Ramadan Iftar project in Bangladesh, which is aimed at securing Iftar food provisions for 7,086 families, or 42,516 displaced and poor people. Together with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), QRCS’s representation mission in Bangladesh is distributing food parcels to Myanmar refugees in Cox’s Bazaar, as well as poor local families in Dhaka and Rajshahi. To date, 2,056 food parcels have been distributed, containing dates, vegetable oil, rice, salt, sugar, and chickpeas. Each parcel lasts for 10 days.

QRCS builds shelter homes for displaced families in Yemen Format ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is building 224 housing units in two towns of Abs District, Hajjah Governorate, to shelter 1,680 displaced persons affected by war and flooding in Yemen. This emergency response is part of Qatar’s continued commitment to relieving Yemenis and alleviating the impact of the prolonged humanitarian crisis. At a total cost of $210,024 totally funded by QRCS, the new homes are 5×3 meters in size and are built of mud blocks and straw roofs taken from the local environment. Eng. Afraa Al-Aghbari, the project’s manager, stated, “Abs District is a desert sandy area in northwestern Hajjah, where the displaced people suffer poor living conditions and have difficulty finding adequate housing. Their suffering becomes even worse at times of too hot weather, dust, and rain, which damage their mud-and-straw homes and make them, particularly children, prone to disease”.
