KARACHI: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Lt-Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa on Tuesday said no power on earth could sabotage the CPEC as it was the country’s national project.
Addressing a ceremony at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), he said the CPEC, being a flagship project of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative, had improved road connectivity between the two countries and would do so further.
On the eastern alignment of CPEC, Bajwa said only one section Sukkur-Hyderabad was left which was launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan recently. He said the request for proposals of the project would be completed under public-private partnership and floated within a month and after that the groundwork would begin.

ISLAMABAD, May 5 (Xinhua) Pakistan will start reaping the benefits of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the form of industrial and agricultural development and a better road connectivity, Chairman of Pakistan s CPEC Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa said. Several roads under CPEC are in their final phase which are expected to be inaugurated in 2021 and after their completion, locals will experience a better connectivity, and business opportunities in the country will increase, Bajwa said while talking to media on Tuesday night. Talking about the special economic zones (SEZs) being established under the framework of CPEC, the official said that they are receiving many applications from local and foreign enterprises to invest in the SEZs where the government is providing a one-window operation to facilitate the investors.

Addressing a press conference here, Tarin said that his country needs to take effective measures to uplift the economy and attracting the FDI in the special economic zones being developed under the framework of the CPEC is one of the major goals of the government. He said the industrial cooperation with China in the second phase of the CPEC will not only create jobs, but also generate business opportunities.
