RAWALPINDI: After a fire incident in the office of the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) on Friday, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has, as a precautionary measure, handed over the security of the land acquisition data of Ring Road Project to the police.
The offices of the RDA land acquisition branch and Wasa are located in different blocks but on the same premises.
The fire erupted in a room in the Wasa office before Iftar on Friday but Rescue 1122 put out the flames within a few minutes. Soon after the incident, Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmood requested RDA Director General Abdul Sattar Issani to form an inquiry committee.

Eastbay Expressway Gwadar to be completed in October: Asim Bajwa
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa has said the work on the Eastbay Expressway Gwadar project is in final stage and it would be completed by October this year.
In a tweet, he said the 14.5 kilometers offshore expressway has already been completed while the remaining 4.5 KM onshore road is under construction and 92 percent of work has been completed.
Chairman CPEC Authority said the Expressway will connect the port with the second phase of the Free Trade Zone which will facilitate the business climate of the zone and the port alike.
NHA endeavouring for construction of motorways and highways

The responsibility for countrywide planning, construction, operation and maintenance of motorways, national highways, strategic roads, bridges and tunnels is assigned to National Highway Authority (NHA), Ministry of Communications.
Presently total length of road network of the country is about 264,000 kms. While total length of 51 motorways and national highways under jurisdiction of NHA is 13,572 kms which include 11,255 kms-38 national highways, 2,055 kms-10 motorways, and 262 kms-3 strategic roads.
As per vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, Ministry of Communications, National Highway Authority has successfully started work for construction of motorways and national highways under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, thus providing opportunity to private sector to invest in road building schemes of the public sector.
