Just 17 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, Cagayan Valley, Philippines. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Wednesday 17 March 2021 at 5:58 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 1 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.2 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.

Moderate magnitude 4.2 quake hits 45 km north of Huocheng, Kazakhstan early afternoon

An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred only 18 minutes ago 45 km north of Huocheng, Kazakhstan, the China Earthquake Networks Center (CEIC) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 8 km beneath the epicenter near Huocheng, Ili Kazak Zizhizhou, Xinjiang, China, early afternoon on Wednesday 17 March 2021 at 2:27 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
