POLL: Should Nigel Farage get a knighthood after 30 years fighting for Britain?

Five key moments which led to Brexit (Image: Express) I am delighted to take up a position as Honorary President and will leave Reform UK in the capable hands of Richard Tice, who so ably assisted me in the construction and the running of the Brexit Party. Reform will need to democratise itself and set up a national structure. It is no easy task and I wish Richard well in this huge endeavour. However, the former UKIP leader said he is not planning to retire just yet. Richard Tice to replace Nigel Farage (Image: Getty) He added: I m not packing up.

NIGEL FARAGE: I want my life back after three decades of Brexit battle

I made my first political speech in a village hall in Hampshire in 1993. A new party, UKIP, had recently been founded and I put myself forward to be its first nominated candidate in its first ever election campaign.  When the Conservative MP for Eastleigh, Stephen Milligan, was found dead in strange circumstances soon after, a by-election was called.  Little did I realise that my opposition to the ERM, to the Maastricht Treaty, and to Britain s membership of the European Union would take over the next three decades of my life. Nigel Farage quits as Reform UK leader in step back from party politics

Last modified on Sun 7 Mar 2021 23.37 EST Nigel Farage has resigned as leader of Reform UK, the renamed Brexit party, and announced he is stepping back from frontline party politics permanently, saying he had achieved what he wanted to thanks to the Conservatives’ Brexit deal. The former Ukip leader, who led that party to a high water mark when it secured more than 14% of the vote in the 2015 general election, said he still planned to participate in political debate, but not within a party. Reform UK, which campaigns on issues including electoral reform and shrinking the state, as well as opposing coronavirus lockdowns, will be led by Richard Tice, the property developer who chaired the Brexit party. Farage will take the post of honorary president.
