Polling day will be on May 6 this year SOUTH Staffordshire Council has confirmed the results of its county council and police and crime commissioner elections after voters went to the polls last Thursday May 6. Conservative candidate Victoria Wilson has been re-elected to serve as the county councillor for Kinver - having secured 2,911 votes.
Councillor Victoria Wilson Labour s Lorna Jones picked up 453 votes and Green Party candidate Bernadette McGourty notched up 546 votes. Meanwhile, the Conservative Party has retained the role of Staffordshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner - after Ben Adams was elected with 136,024 votes. Tony Kearon, for the Labour and Co-operative Party, picked up 67,050 votes; independent candidate Deneice Florence-Jukes notched up 19,102 votes; Liberal Democrat Richard Whelan gained 10,690 votes; and Reform UK candidate Michael Riley earned 5,504 votes.
CONSERVATIVE John Campion has been re-elected for a second term as the region’s police and crime commissioner. Mr Campion, who has held the role of West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner since 2016, was re-elected on Monday (May 10) by almost 102,000 votes. Mr Campion received 179,411 votes – more than 55 per cent of the vote – and came out on top ahead of Labour’s Kuldip Sahota who polled 77,664 votes. Margaret Rowley came third for the Liberal Democrat with 50,699 votes and Reform UK candidate Peter Jewell came in last with 16,419 votes. Following the result, which was announced at the Sports Village in Shrewsbury, Mr Campion said: “I am incredibly proud and humbled to have the majority support of the communities of West Mercia in the first round.

Police and Crime Commissioner candidates (clockwise from top left): Clive Grunshaw (Labour), James Barker (Reform UK), Andrew Snowden (Conservative) and Neil Darby (Liberal Democrats) - second preference votes will now decide whether Mr. Snowden or Mr. Grunshaw wins.
On the first preferences Mr Snowden received 166,202 votes - 44.8 per cent of those cast.
Mr Grunshaw secured 154,195 votes - 41.5 per cent.
Liberal Democrat candidate Neil Darby got 32,813 (8.8 percent) while the Reform UK Party s Mark Barker got 17,926 (4.8 per cent).
The turn out across Lancashire in the PCC election was 33.7 per cent.
The results are being collated at King George s Hall in Blackburn.
