Spanish Fort: An Alabama police officer who stood at attention during a rainstorm to honor a deceased World War II soldier said he simply wanted to recognize a veteran from a small town. Wearing his regular uniform rather than rain gear, Officer Newman Brazier of the Mount Vernon Police Department got out of his police car and stood at attention as the funeral procession of Robert Lee Serling entered the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort on Monday, WPMI-TV reported. CHULA VISTA, Calif. – There was pumping music, dancing teachers and lots of hugs as one of the first public schools in California opened fully to in-person learning Wednesday, marking a major milestone in the fight to return to normalcy in the nation s most populated state, though the masked students served as a reminder that the coronavirus pandemic is still far from over.
South Bay students return to full-time in-person learning

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) For the first time since March 2020, students in the South Bay returned to full-time in person learning. Both the Sweetwater Union High School District and Chula Vista Elementary School District went back to the classroom on Wednesday.
âWe did a countdown! It was 495 days since the girls stepped foot on campus,â said MaryJane Granda, a parent two girls in elementary school.
