President Trump lashed out at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday night for acknowledging Joe Biden won the election, sending a slide to Republican lawmakers taking credit for saving McConnell’s career with a tweet and robocall.
It’s an extraordinary broadside against McConnell by the sitting president and most popular Republican in the party, ahead of a crucial runoff election in Georgia on Jan. 5 that will determine control of the Senate.
Included in the still-secret details of the COVID-19 stimulus deal struck Sunday is a three-martini lunch tax break for corporations, according to The Washington Post.
Officials familiar with the negotiations told the paper that the measure is in a draft of the proposal.
The corporate tax break would allow companies to deduct the full cost of a business meal from their federal taxes, rather than the current 50%.
Trump has pushed for the measure since April. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
According to the Post, Republicans accepted tax relief for poorer Americans in a trade to secure the measure.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Sunday announced that Congress had reached an agreement on a $900 billion bipartisan deal, bringing an end to months of negotiations.
The economic relief package will reportedly bring millions of Americans a temporary $300 weekly unemployment benefit and a $600 stimulus check. The plan will also include federal aid to small businesses, schools, and renters.
“As the American people continue battling the coronavirus this holiday season, they will not be on their own. Congress has just reached an agreement. We will pass another rescue package ASAP. More help is on the way,” McConnell wrote in a tweet.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Sunday evening said lawmakers have reached a long-awaited coronavirusrelief bill, though it will be hours before the full details are made public, FOX Business has learned.
Speaking from the Senate floor Wednesday, McConnell said the four leaders of the Senate and the House finalized an agreement.
The Associated Press reported that if the deal is finalized, it will be the largest spending measure, which combines the COVID-19 relief with a $1.4 trillion government-wide funding plan that the New York Times referred to as a $2.3 trillion behemoth.
