Residents were invited to the field at Seven Generations Education Institute today to add their handprints to a number of They Found Us banners that will hang on the school s fence for a few days. I am doing a banner painting for all the residential school kids that never came home and for the survivors as well, said Dakota Shebagegit, organizer of the event.
Those that came were encouraged to dip their hand in orange paint and add their handprints to the banners.
Shebagegit says it was emotional when a number of residential school survivors stopped by the event to add their handprints.
