COVID-19 vaccine trial volunteer learns if she got placebo or vaccine

NorthJersey.com When I joined a clinical trial for a COVID-19 vaccine last summer, I signed up for two years. I agreed to receive two shots, be swabbed several times for coronavirus infection, give samples of blood to be tested for antibodies, and answer frequent questions about my health and exposure to COVID-19.  Some people thought I was brave. A few thought I was crazy.   But once the vaccine proved to be safe and effective, I  and almost everyone else in the study  wanted to find out which shot we had received. Was it the vaccine or a placebo?   Not only did we want to find out if our study shots had been full of mere salt water, we wanted to get the vaccine   and get it soon.
