New Jersey police officers will be barred from using physical or deadly force against civilians except as a last resort and must intervene if they see another officer going too far, according to sweeping new changes to the state s policy on when police can use force.
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said Monday that his office s yearlong effort to overhaul the state s 20-year-old policies was meant to protect citizens, build community trust and reframe the way officers approach exchanges with the public. We re going to preserve the sanctity of human life, we re going to preserve the rights and liberties of our residents and we re going to try to resolve every interaction in a peaceful and respectful manner, Grewal said in an interview.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Supreme Court punted on a state-led challenge to President Trump’s effort to excluse illegal aliens from the census, a move which could cost large blue states both U.S. House seats in 2022 and electoral votes beginning in 2024.
“At present, this case is riddled with contingencies andspeculation that impede judicial review,” explained the Court’s unsigned order. “The President, to be sure, has made clear his desire to exclude aliens without lawful status from the apportionment base. But the President qualified his directive by providing that the Secretary should gather information ‘to the extent practicable’ and that aliens should be excluded ‘to the extent feasible.’ 85 Fed. Reg. 44680. Any prediction how the Executive Branchmight eventually implement this general statement of policy is “no more than conjecture” at this time. Los Angeles v. Lyons, 461 U. S. 95, 108 (1983).”

I’ve gotta give points to Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small for a creative way to raise money for a good cause.
Small is going to auction off the opportunity to press the button that brings down Trump Plaza, turning the hulking tower that has for years sat vacant and derelict along the boardwalk into a pile of rubble.
