Pete Dunne & Oney Lorcan were looking for a scrap, and Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher did not disappoint in upping the aggression. The two teams traded haymakers until the shocking return of Ridge Holland opened the door for Dunne to hit a Bitter End on The Blackheart for the win. Holland did all he could to announce his rejuvenated presence with a vicious beatdown of Ciampa & Thatcher following the match.
Ridge Holland returned to NXT on tonight s episode, appearing for the first time since suffering an injury nine months ago.
Holland appeared on tonight s NXT and aligned with Pete Dunne & Oney Lorcan, helping them defeat Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher in a tag team match. Holland, Dunne, and Lorcan then laid out Ciampa and Thatcher after the match.
Holland underwent surgery last October after being injured when catching Lorcan on a dive. Holland suffered a left ankle dislocation and fracture and a right knee patellar dislocation and patellar tendon rupture.
Just days before his injury, Holland had been involved in the main event angle of NXT TakeOver 31. Holland carried Adam Cole out to the ring and dumped him over the barricade after attacking him backstage. It was later said that Pat McAfee hired Holland to attack Cole.
Due to a scheduling conflict with the Olympics, NXT moves to Syfy for two weeks starting with tonight s episode.
A match between Bronson Reed and Adam Cole will headline tonight s show. Plus, Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher will face off with Pete Dunne & Oney Lorcan in tag team action.
The first round of the NXT Breakout Tournament will also continue with Carmelo Hayes facing Josh Briggs tonight. Duke Hudson and Odyssey Jones have already advanced to the next round of the tournament. The final first round match will be Trey Baxter vs. Joe Gacy.
Hit Row will be in action as Top Dolla & Ashante Thee Adonis face Imperium s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner, Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter will take on Franky Monet & Jessi Kamea, and LA Knight will go golfing with his butler/caddy Cameron Grimes.
