Man O War beach next to Durdle Door A CORONER has issued a stark warning on the dangers of swimming while intoxicated, following an inquest into the death of a man who drowned off the Dorset coast last summer. Moldova-born Vadim Sirghii, aged 26, of Hounslow, Middlesex, had been visiting Man O War beach, near Durdle Door, with family and friends when the tragedy unfolded on June 21, last year. The bartender, who worked at The Shard, London, had swum out 25-metres to a rock shortly after arriving at the beach. His brother Victor Sirghii, who attended the inquest at Dorset Coroner s Court, Bournemouth, recalled watching Vadim from the shore, as he appeared to get into difficulties after being hit by waves.

Jay-Marie Webber died earlier this month at her home address in Wimborne Road. Oscar Nelson Hugh Montgomery, aged 17, travelled to Church Ope Cove, Portland on May 27 last year to take part in water activities. The teenager, from Solihull, Birmingham, who was an experienced snorkeller and spearfisher, was last seen entering the water at Church Ope Cove around 9.30am, but failed to return. On June 17 last year Oscar s body was recovered from the water - a short distance from the location where he was last seen.

Bournemouth Town Hall A GRANDMOTHER, described by friends as a loving family woman died after drinking a fatal amount of alcohol, an inquest hearing has heard. Helen Yvonne Lewis, aged 54, died at her home on the Upton Heath Estate, Upton, Poole, on September 20, last year, after consuming at least a bottle of vodka. Toxicology tests showed the married cleaner had consumed almost five times the legal drink drive limit, in excess of what is generally considered a fatal amount. On Wednesday, February 17, at Dorset Coroner s Court, Bournemouth Town Hall, an inquest was held. Coroner Brendan Allen read statements from witnesses including family members, police and medical professionals.

1/1 A TEENAGER who attempted to call a GP 25 times in one day but was unable to get through died three days later, an inquest heard. Toby James Hudson, aged 19, of Weymouth, did manage to see a nurse two days after his attempts to call the surgery and was prescribed antibiotics, but his condition deteriorated and he was later rushed to hospital, where he died. An inquest into his death began yesterday at Dorset Coroners Court, presided over by coroner Rachael Griffin. His dad Peter Hudson told the inquest that Toby had called Wyke Regis & Lanehouse Medical Practice 25 times on July 1 2019 after becoming ill with flu symptoms and a severe swollen neck but could not get through.
