The Senate has exposed how the Ministerial Tenders Board of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources paid N718 million to 11 corporate bodies for different services rendered without documents.
The alleged financial mismanagement was as a result of the 2015 Auditor General Report submitted to the Senate Committee on Public Account chaired by Senator Matthew Urhoghide.
Findings showed that the contract was awarded in 2014 when the former Head of Service, Danladi Kifasi, was the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

Effective Friday, December 11, 2020, fuel prices for both regular gasoline and kerosene went up. According to a press release from the Government of Belize, the Ministry of Finance has announced these increases which reflect current demand and supply conditions of crude oil in the international petroleum market. Likewise, they also echo fluctuations in the acquisition price of refined fuel products in the countries from which Belize obtains its supplies.
Regular Gasoline has increased by 48 cents, from $8.61 to $9.09 per gallon and kerosene has increased by 1 dollar from $4.73 to $5.73 per gallon. The prices for premium gasoline and diesel will remain unchanged at $9.49 and $8.11 per gallon, respectively.
