With his early Washington departure, Trump gets one final ride with Air Force One designation

By breaking with tradition and leaving Washington while still president, Trump’s final military flight this morning is expected to carry the designation “Air Force One.”
It
is typical for outgoing presidents to depart Washington on one of the airplanes maintained by the 89th Airlift Wing of the Air Force and typically known as Air Force One. The new president typically offers this as a courtesy to his predecessor.
But it is
not typical for that final flights to be officially called Marine One and Air Force One since those craft only have those names when the President is on them.

Joe Biden, president-elect, spent the night at the Blair House guest residence, then is going to a morning prayer service. Normally after he would have coffee meeting with his predecessor at the White House. Bucking tradition one last time Donald Trump will hold his own send-off event at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland early in the morning and then depart to his home in Florida. At midday, the vice-president-elect and president-elect take their respective oaths of office, in that order.

In a previous column we probed some of intellectual property protection policies that the Biden administration may undertake in the coming months to put its own stamp on U.S. intellectual property (IP) law. Biden has already committed to treating intellectual property as a core national and economic security concern, and we can expect that his administration will continue many of the broad policy outlines established across the Bush, Obama, and even Trump presidencies.
