Small businesses and nonprofits in California impacted by COVID-19 and its related health and safety restrictions can apply for the second round of relief grants beginning Feb. 2. The California Relief Grant Program, administered by California’s Office of the Small Business Advocate, will again award grants between $5,000 and $25,000, depending on a business’s annual revenue as documented in its most recent tax return.

The Sustaining Small Businesses and COVID-19 Relief Grant Program is intended to help selected woman- and minority-owned businesses.
The Urban League has been providing education and training for startups and small minority-owned businesses through its entrepreneurial assistance center for 25 years. It recently partnered with the ESL Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation to provide the relief program for those affected by the pandemic.
Chantz Miles, the Urban League’s director of business development, said ESL was excited to assist with their efforts.
“We connected with them and explained what we’re looking to do and how the Urban League is looking to support the businesses within the community, and ESL was all about it,” said Miles.

GALESBURG Thirty-five Galesburg businesses are recipients of between $5,000 and $25,000 as part of the Galesburg COVID-19 Relief Program.
The fund is comprised of $250,000 in funding from the State of Illinois and $250,000 in funding from the City of Galesburg. After a review of the applications received, 35 Galesburg businesses will receive between $5,000 and $25,000 in grant funding to help cover losses incurred due to COVID-19. The stated priority for the program was to aid small businesses in the restaurant, retail, bar, spa, and salon industries that could demonstrate losses caused by the pandemic.
“COVID-19 has been extremely hard on small businesses all across our community, Galesburg Mayor John Prichard said in a news release. The City of Galesburg is excited to be able to step up and provide assistance for many small businesses that underpin our community’s economy and quality of life,”
