ESN vs herdsmen: It s not IPOB - Governor Umahi reveals those fueling crisis

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has said that alleged houses and properties of Fulani herdsmen being destroyed in the South East as portrayed in some viral videos circulating online were not perpetrated by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, but the communities. The Governor, who is the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, said this on Monday during the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) registration exercise in Abakaliki, the state capital. Umahi warned that such fake videos, showing the killing of cows and burning down of houses are dangerous and worthy of instigating crises in the country.

Oba Darasimi The Chidi Ibeh-led faction of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has thrown its weight behind the Eastern Security Network (ESN) launched by the indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). IPOB announced the launching of the security network last year but the Southeast Governors Forum has also said it would soon launch a similar security network for the region. Incidentally, Ibeh’s Ohanaeze faction supports the Joint Security Network by the Southeast Governors Forum. The group believes the two security outfits can operate side by side , saying the security of the region is the most paramount. It will be recalled that the Federal Government outlawed the IPOB, tagging it a terrorist group.
