Man dies in one-vehicle crash in Butte County July 17, 2021 FRUITDALE, S.D. A 55-year-old male died in a one-vehicle crash Friday night near Fruitdale. Preliminary information indicates that a 1999 Ford F250 pickup was eastbound on Valley 1 Road when the driver lost control, and the vehicle went into the north ditch and rolled. He was not wearing a seat belt. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver has not been released pending notification of family members. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, and all information is preliminary at this time.
