Man who died in Wednesday incident identified
ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) The man who died during a traffic stop in Rochester Wednesday morning has been identified.
The Southern Minnesota Medical Examiner’s Office says 63-year-old Michael Charles Apicella, of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, died of to two self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head.
According to a news release Wednesday, three Minnesota State Patrol troopers stopped a semitruck for a vehicle inspection at about 6:45 a.m. They attempted to detain the driver for failing to produce identification at about 8:30 a.m. That s when the driver, now identified as Apicella, fired his weapon.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) Authorities on Thursday identified a semi-trailer driver who killed himself in a Rochester shopping center parking lot.
The Southern Minnesota Medical Examiner’s Office said Michael Charles Apicella, 63, of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, died of two gunshot wounds to the head. No further details were released.
The incident began about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday when three Minnesota State Patrol troopers stopped the semi for a vehicle inspection outside the Miracle Mile shopping center, officials said. At 8:30 a.m., after troopers attempted to detain Apicella for failing to show identification, he took out a gun and shot himself twice, according to the patrol.

Kenyon, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that human remains were discovered in a burned up vehicle parked outside a rural Kenyon after a fire was reported at the residence on New Year’s Eve.
A news release indicates firefighters from the Kenyon Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 45000 block of Highway 56 Boulevard, just north of Kenyon, around 6:15 Thursday evening. The victim was discovered shortly after their arrival at the scene.
