Charles Porter, director of finance at SCAS THE first fully-electric emergency response cars are to be rolled out to ambulance services in Oxfordshire. The two Kia e-Niro vehicles have been designed and adapted to contain all the equipment, medication and supplies to allow first responder paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) to reach patients quickly under emergency driving conditions, while generating zero emissions in the process. Charles Porter, director of finance at SCAS, said: “I am delighted that these first two fully-electric, zero emission emergency response vehicles will shortly be introduced to our operational fleet. “I would like to thank everyone in the project team for their determination and commitment to delivering this significant step in our strategy to continually reduce our environmental impact.

A three-year-old boy tripped on a tuft of grass while feeding the ducks and fell headfirst into a canal where he tragically drowned, a coroner heard today.
Dylan Milsom was swept downstream after toppling into the fast flowing water of the Kennet and Avon Canal in Newbury, Berkshire, on a family day out on Saturday, March 13, just before Mother s Day.
The blonde-haired toddler walked along the canal towpath to find hungry ducks, venturing closer to the edge of the river so that his bread would land in the water.
But he stumbled and was sucked into a weir, before his body was spotted floating under the water by rescuers, Berkshire Coroners Court was told.
A CONCERN for welfare sparked a large-scale emergency response in Southampton yesterday evening. Police, South Central Ambulance Service, lifeguards and Hill Head Coastguard Rescue responded around 8pm to concerns for the welfare of a woman in a car park on Weston Lane. A tweet posted by Hillhead Coastguard yesterday showed the large response, listing some of the crews involved, including firefighters from Redbridge and St Mary s. A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: We received a report shortly before 8pm on Saturday 15 May relating to the concern for welfare of a woman on Weston Parade, Southampton. Officers attended and the woman was located.
