AUBURN â Teens ages 16 and 17 can receive only the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19, DeKalb County Health Officer Dr. Mark Souder reminded Tuesday.
The Pfizer vaccine is available at the Mirro Center on the Parkview Health campus in Fort Wayne, and from Kroger, Meijer and Walgreens pharmacies, he said. The pharmacies schedule vaccination appointments on their individual websites.
Kroger and Meijer take walk-ins on limited basis, he added.
He added that CVS pharmacy was expected to have the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine available as of Tuesday. The other vaccines require two shots, separated by 3-4 weeks.
The DeKalb County Health Departmentâs vaccination site at Middaugh Hall in Auburn offers only the Moderna vaccine.
AUBURN — DeKalb County improved to a “yellow” rating for COVID-19 spread this week, but DeKalb County Health Officer Dr. Mark Souder isn’t celebrating.
AUBURN â DeKalb Countyâs COVID-19 vaccine clinic reached a new high by giving 200 shots Friday, up from 150 per day in its first three sessions.
âWe were able to get more vaccine from the state,â said DeKalb County Health Officer Dr. Mark Souder. âWe would probably be able to do 250 a day and maybe 300 without working our system too hard.â
The clinic at Middaugh Hall in Auburn opens for its first Saturday session today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment only, to administer 120 vaccine doses.
Souder said the clinic will continue next week with the same dates and hours as this week, with plans to give 150 shots per day unless more become available.
