RAPID CITY, S.D. Students at Saint Thomas More Middle School kicked off National Catholic Schools Week on Monday by giving back to the community. Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender was at an assembly today, and read a proclamation recognizing this as National Catholic Schools Week.
The week is organized by the National Catholic Education Association to highlight the values a Catholic education provides young people.
One such value is community, as Mayor Allender was presented with a $500 check for the Cornerstone Rescue Mission.
The money, raised by donations, allowed students to step outside the dress code.

It’s the most wonderful time of the school year for students enrolled in Catholic schools. It’s National Catholic Schools Week and that typically means a lot of fun mixed with the lessons learned this week.

On Sunday, January 31, the Catholic Diocese of Arlington begins celebrating National Catholic Schools Week (January 31–February 6).
