More special schools introduce two-day weeks

That could happen if safe levels of staffing cannot be maintained due to staff illness or absence, vital support from the Education Authority or the Department of Education is unavailable, or vital and irreplaceable support services and therapies that are needed by children and schools are unavailable, it said. The minister needs to be clear with parents that some factors will inevitably arise to require a reduction in on-site provision in order to keep children safe. Thousands of laptops available for disadvantaged children through Worcestershire s education authority

Thousands of laptops and tablets have been made available for disadvantaged children through Worcestershire’s education authority since September, figures show. But school leaders union National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) says the Government s rollout of devices was still not finished, claiming children had been miserably let down by the scheme. Department for Education data shows 2,369 laptops and tablets had been sent to Worcestershire County Council or its maintained schools as of January 17. That was more than treble the 689 reported on January 12. The figures do not include those allocated to academy trusts, as they are not maintained by the local authority.
