GamCare launches new code of conduct on safer gambling messaging Share April 6, 2021 GamCare has launched a new ‘code of conduct’ for UK licensed operators, co-developed in consultation with industry trade body the Betting and Gambling Council ( BGC). The new code has been established to ensure that licensed gambling businesses provide transparent information on safer gambling tools and support services to their customers visible across their active brand portfolios. The safer gambling directive was formed following guidance from GamCare’s lived experience group on gambling harms providing feedback on the charity’s policies. GamCare stated that UK gambling requires consistency on how safer gambling messages and information are displayed to audiences, reducing the friction for vulnerable customers to access tools and support services available.

GambleAware reports positive NGTS Scotland & Wales results

GambleAware reports positive NGTS Scotland & Wales results  Share National Gambling Treatment Service’ ( NGTS) facilities across ViewitUK – as GambleAware aims to provide stakeholders with a regional view of NGTS developments.  In Scotland, the NGTS treated a total of 295 individuals – 77% of whom were male –  between 2019 and 2020, as 90% of participants demonstrated an improved ‘ Problem Gambling Severity Index’ (PGSI) score – the scale used to measure the severity of an individual’s gambling disorder. Effective NGTS treatment saw over half (54%) of Scottish participants classified as ‘problem gamblers’ no longer registered in the category by the end of treatment. Furthermore, 66% of Scottish participants recorded an improved ‘

GambleAware targets women with new ‘There, but not There’ campaign   Share GambleAware has launched its new ‘ There, but not There’ nationwide marketing campaign, targeting women aged 18-54, seeking to raise awareness of its problem gambling treatment and support services.  The campaign forms part of the charity’s ‘ National Gambling Treatment Services’ strategy for 2021 and follows YouGov research which revealed that ‘10% of women in Great Britain experience some level of gambling harm’. Running across digital media, radio and print formats until the end of March, GambleAware’s campaign aims ‘to signpost’ vulnerable women to its National Gambling Treatment Services. The campaign further acknowledges that women are more likely to experience gambling harms from loved ones, with YouGov data identifying 8% of women having been affected by others problem-gambling behaviours.
