Hospitality establishments allowed to serve guests outdoors

Slovenia Times 24. April, 2021 Ljubljana – Hospitality establishments across the country can serve guests at their outdoor areas as of today, from 7am to 7pm, as coronavirus restrictions for the hospitality industry are further easing. So far only take-away services have been allowed. In three yellow regions, which have a better epidemiological situation than the other nine – Obalno-Kraška, Goriška and Pomurje, guests may also be served indoors if they prove they are not infected with the coronavirus. The relaxation of restrictions follows appeals by businesses for a faster pace of reopening and comes just as the week-long May Day school holiday is starting.

Risk of dying from AstraZeneca higher than of COVID-19: NorwayEurope 2021-04-24, by Editor Comments Off 0 While waiting for the final decision on the controversial vaccine, Norway has decided to distribute its stock of AstraZeneca to fellow Nordic countries that actually want to use them despite the associated risks. Norwegians run a greater risk of dying from being inoculated with AstraZeneca’s vaccine than from COVID-19, the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) concluded in its analysis, recommending the vaccine, previously linked to serious complications in the form of rare blood clotting and haemorrhage amid low platelet counts. Abstaining from the vaccine could possibly prevent up to 10 deaths related to side effects, the FHI said, according to the newspaper Verdens Gang.

Johnson & Johnson jab recommended for all over 18s

Slovenia Times 23. April, 2021 Ljubljana – The national advisory committee on immunisation has recommended the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine against Covid-19 for everyone over the age of 18, in line with the guidance issued by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Announcing the decision, the body’s head Bojana Beović said the use of the vaccine is not being limited to an age group, but the age limit stated in the vaccine’s registration will be followed. According to EMA documentation, the person develops immunity 14 days after getting a Johnson & Johnson jab, said Beović. Only one dose is required. EMA reviewed the Johnson & Johnson vaccine following a small number of reports from the US of serious cases of unusual blood clots associated with low levels of blood platelets among people who had received the vaccine.
