On March 1, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Mark Calabria announced that he authorized the disbursement of $1.09 billion for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s affordable housing allocations for 2020. $711 million will go to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Housing Trust Fund, an increase from the $326.4 million disbursed for 2019. The sum of $383 million will go to the Department of the Treasury for the Capital Magnet Fund, an increase from the $175.8 million disbursed for 2019. For more information, click
On February 25, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Office of the Comptroller of Currency issued the Shared National Credit Review for 2020. The New York State Division of Consumer Protection (DCP) in 2020 assisted 31,689 New Yorkers with a variety of matters related to COVID-19 in 2020, resulting in a record $2,831,400 being returned to consumers wallets. The DCP is hosting two free webinars this week featuring consumer protection related topics. The first, Prevent and Protect from Identity Theft and the second, Savvy Shopping Tips for Smart Consumers. BOSTON – The Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR), and its partners: the Better Business Bureau (BBB) serving Eastern Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont along with the BBB serving Central and Western MA and Northeastern CT, and AARP of MA, are hosting a consumer protection forum designed to inform and empower participants.
This event which is in celebration of National Consumer Protection Week (Sunday, 2/28 through Saturday, 3/6), is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required.
