Views: Visits 48 President Muhammadu Buhari has received an open letter from the staff members and alumni of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, listing the unprecedented anomalies allegedly perpetrated by the institution’s rector, John Adekolawole. The Street Journal had earlier reported Mr. Adekolawole, last year was accused of putting a king-sized bed in his office. It would also be recalled that in December, the school’s academic board passed a vote-of-no-confidence in Rector and thereafter, sent their resolutions to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu. The academic board accused the Rector of maladministration and called for his suspension. The recent build-up of events has seen members of the campus community, comprising the polytechnic`s academic board, the leadership of the academic staff union and that of the alumni association, appealing to President Buhari to quickly intervene in the crises rocking the institution.

Charkin Maritime Academy Gets NBTE s Accreditation for ND Programmes

Uchechukwu Nnaike A maritime education and training institution, Charkin Maritime Academy (CMA), situated in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has made public its interim accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The accreditation from the NBTE is for CMA to run two critical National Diploma (ND) programmes, namely Nautical Science and Marine Engineering. It is on record that CMA is one of the first private maritime academies in Nigeria to be given accreditation by the NBTE to run diploma programmes in the two courses. Already, the school has commenced the process of admitting fresh students for the 2021/2022 academic session, just as it has fixed February 13, 2021 as the date for its entrance examination.

Ibadan poly workers reject Oyo govt salary scale

The poly workers’ rejection of the salary scale was contained in a communique made available to our correspondent on Wednesday. It was signed by the Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Polytechnics, Biodun Abegunde; Chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union, Ibraheem Akande; and Representative of the teaching staff, T.M Oyebola The workers said the Governing Council of the Institutions were the only body saddled with the discussion of salary and emoluments matters and not the Ministry of Education or any of its agents.

NIJ gets 3rd stream at accreditation On Kindly Share This Story: Nigeria’s premier media training institute, the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos has secured the nod of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to increase population size of its trainees by an additional stream of 40 students from the current eighty, given admission through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Admission to the NIJ had been limited to two streams of forty students per stream for entry point students who acquire both academic and professional training to be journalists at the NIJ. Now, the NIJ can admit 120 students at the entry point for students training to become career journalists.

Federal Poly, Bauchi Matriculates 6,559 Students

Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi has matriculated a total of 6,559 students for the 2019/2020 academic session. Giving a breakdown at the matriculation ceremony recently, the Rector, Sanusi Gumau said a total of 9,910 applications were received by the polytechnic, 9,654 students were admitted, while 6,559 were registered having met the requirements. Providing a further breakdown of the classes of the matriculated students, the rector said 950 were for diploma, 3,125 for National Diploma, 2421 for Higher National Diploma and 93 for IJMB. He said the ceremony was scheduled by the Academic Board of the polytechnic to hold in April, 2020, but could not hold due to the Corona virus pandemic that forced schools to close all academic exercises.
