New NY law to make providers offer low-cost, high-speed internet to lower-income homes

(WHEC) Governor Cuomo Friday announced a new New York State law will require all internet service providers to offer low-cost, high-speed internet to lower-income families and homes. Cuomo said during a COVID-19 briefing in Buffalo that providers will have to offer the service at a $15 rate. He added that families and folks who still cannot afford that rate will be offered some financial help by way of an emergency fund set up by Re-Imagine New York Chair and CEO of Google Eric Schmidt. Cuomo said the fund could help up to 50,000 students and families. The governor added the fund will give students free internet access through June 2022 while remote learning lasts.

Posted on 235 CACI International Inc (NYSE: CACI) announced today that it was awarded a seven-year task order, with a ceiling value of $376 million, to provide mission technology to the U.S. Department of Agriculture to sustain and modernize the department’s Web Based Supply Chain Management (WBSCM) system, which supports domestic and international food and nutrition programs administered by the USDA and USAID. Under the task order, awarded under the GSA Alliant II contract vehicle, CACI will provide continued sustainment and business process improvements to USDA’s WBSCM system, including a cloud migration, modernization to SAP S/4HANA, and deployment of additional Salesforce capabilities. These improvements will help increase the productivity and lower the sustainment costs of USDA’s food and nutrition assistance programs by modernizing and automating software functions.

(WSFA) - The Alabama Department of Human Resources has announced federal approval to distribute a second round of Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits to eligible families. Officials say P-EBT benefits will start rolling out in late spring or early summer to qualifying households with children in grades K-12. This includes pre-K students in public and some private schools. Benefits may also be available to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients with children under 6 years old.
