As of now, Delhi Metro s airport express line is the only section of the network where the QR code-based ticketing system is being used. The airport express line also allows the use of National Common Mobility Card (NCMC)

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the introduction of Quick Response (QR) codes and other payment-based systems with the aim of making entire ticketing process contactless. The initiative has been brought on as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is planning to facilitate cashless and touchless transitions for commuters. As of now, the QR-based rating system is available only on the airport express line of the Metro (Representative Image).  |  Photo Credit: Twitter

New Delhi: As the world adjusts to the new normal, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to introduce cashless and touchless transactions for commuters. The DMRC initially introduced Quick Response (QR) codes and other digital payment-based systems amid the pandemic.
Recently, the Delhi Metro invited Expression of Interest from private firms to upgrade its existing Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system to enable QR code, bank account and RuPay based ticketing on its network.

GANDHINAGAR: While carrying out the virtual ground breaking ceremonies of the the Surat Metro project and the second phase of Ahmedabad Metro project, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that due to lack of modern vision and any metro policy in previous governments, works of only 225 kilometre Metro network were operational, while the present government s modern vision had helped complete more than 450 km of Metro line and work was in progress in more than 1000 km in 27 cities.
