A doctor from the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, a central-level hospital that tends to COVID-19 patients in Hanoi, has recently tested positive for the coronavirus, according to Tran Thi Nhi Ha, director of the municipal Department of Health.
The doctor in question works at the emergency and intensive care department and had made no contact with COVID-19 patients in the hospital, Ha said on Tuesday.
The Hanoi Department of Health is scrambling to perform contact tracing and identify people who came into close contact with the doctor.
During his recent holidays in late April and early May, the infected doctor traveled to various spots and visited friends in Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, and Tay Ho Districts, among other areas in Hanoi, a source said.

The Ministry of Health confirmed four more COVID-19 cases, including two local infections, in the past 12 hours to 6:00 on May 4.

One of the two local cases resides in Hoi An ancient city, the central province of Quang Nam and works in neighbouring Da Nang city from April 29. He was tested positive with the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 on May 3, and has received treatment at Da Nang Lung Hospital.
Deputy health minister, experts travel to Laos to assist in Covid fight

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son and 35 medical experts are traveling to Laos Tuesday to provide support for that country’s Covid-19 fight.
They will help build field hospitals, enhance intensive care and Covid testing capabilities.
They also brought $500,000 and medical items including 200 ventilators and two million face masks to help with Laos s Covid fight.
Laos has sought Vietnam s support in the capital Vientiane and Savannakhet city, Son said.

VĨNH PHÚC A doctor working at Phúc Yên General Hospital in Vĩnh Phúc Province has tested positive for COVID-19 once.
The doctor s samples were sent to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology for confirmation. The doctor has been quarantined at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Đông Anh District, Hà Nội.
Phúc Yên General Hospital on Sunday night took the samples of 1,457 people including staff members and patients and their relatives for testing. Additional tests were taken on Monday morning.
