NY built a highway ramp on Native land A tribe isn t happy

New York State Team COLONIE – On a chilly November day last year, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo climbed into Franklin D. Roosevelt s 1932 Packard and took it for a spin. Cuomo had the vintage car restored two years earlier so he could drive it to mark special occasions. And this, by the governor s estimation, was a special occasion: The opening of Exit 3 on Interstate 87 near Albany, a project that suffered through decades of fits and starts before he took office. This one is personal to me, the governor said that day. Cuomo held three separate events last year to mark the progress of Exit 3, a new highway ramp and overpass that grants drivers easy access to Albany International Airport. He touted it as a metaphor for governmental and economic progress.

TriMet seeks comment on unfunded SW MAX project December 18 2020 The regional transit agency is completing the environmental assessment even though Metro will not seek regional funding again until 2022, at the earliest. TriMet is finalizing the federally-required environmental assessment of the proposed Southwest Corridor MAX line, even though Metro President Lynn Peterson has said regional funding for the project will not be sought until 2022, at the earliest. TriMet had been planning a new light rail line between Portland and Bridgeport Village to be partly funded by Metro s $5.2 billion regional transportation funding measure on the November general election ballot. But voters in all three counties in Metro s jurisdiction defeated the measure, prompting the regional transit agency to stop working on the project.

A sight for sore eyes: Howard Road Bridge reopens

12/16/2020 A sight for sore eyes: Howard Road Bridge reopens The new bridge carries Howard Road over Abbott Run in Cumberland. (Breeze photos by Ethan Shorey) CUMBERLAND – Michael Kanakry was so excited to see the bridge next to his home reopen Monday that he drove across it just for fun. Kanakry, who has been keeping a close eye on the work for what seems like forever, said he and his wife Joanne were thrilled to see the bridge finally opened to traffic after three years of detours. The Kanakry family, 40-year residents of 3 Howard Road, was among those who told The Breeze back in May that they were skeptical of the latest estimate of late summer for completion by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.
