Govt planning to build 825-km all-weather roads in Uttarakhand: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Feb 09: The central government has said that it planned to construct 825 km all-weather roads in the hill state of Uttarakhand, out of which approval had been given for the construction of 671-km roads at a cost of around Rs 12,072 crore.
Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said, Yes, the Ministry plans to construct 825-km all-weather road from Rishikesh to Janki Chati (Yamunotri), Gangotri, Gaurikund (Kedarnath), and Mana (Badrinath), including Tanakpur to Pithoragarh section of the Kailash-Mansarovar route in Uttarakhand.

Mumbai, Feb 4 : Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Nana F. Patole resigned from his post here on Thursday evening. He submitted his resignation to Deputy Speaker Narhari S. Zhirwal, after a tenure of nearly 14 months in the august post.
The development comes ahead of the 57-year old Patole s likely appointment as the new President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, according to party sources.

‘Nitin Gadkari has also been informed’
Minister for Large and Medium Industries Jagadish Shettar has said that the issue of pending bills of contractors for the works executed under the Central Road Fund (CRF) has been brought to the notice of the Chief Minister and also Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Speaking to presspersons after performing bhoomi puja for the new Balamandir on Ghantikeri Balamandir premises in Hubballi on Monday, he said that he was aware of the problems caused due to delay in payment of bills for works completed under CRF. “The State government will take short-term loans for payment of pending bills to the contractors for the works taken up under the CRF,” he said and added that the officials and contractors have been asked to complete the works without creating problems for the general public.

ALAPPUZHA: The long-awaited inauguration of the Alappuzha bypass will take place on January 28. It will be jointly inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. PWD minister G Sudhakaran has received information that the Prime Minister will not be able to attend the inauguration. Following this, it was decided that Nitin Gadkari would attend the function. Though the work was completed a while ago, the state government had been waiting for the Prime Minister to inform his convenient date to inaugurate the bypass.
The foundation stone of the Alappuzha bypass was laid in 1987. With the bypass becoming a reality, those travelling to Thiruvananthapuram region and Ernakulam region will be able to avoid the traffic block in the city by travelling along the Alappuzha beach.
