Forest Deptt Sets Up ‘Think Tank’ To Provide It Technical, Legal Support For Implementation Of FRA
SRINAGAR: In a significant development, Jammu & Kashmir’s Forest department has set-up a high-level committee to provide it legal and technical support for the implementation of the Forest Rights Act(FRA) in the Union Territory.
The eight-member panel headed by Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) and Chief Executive Officer, Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), Sarvesh Rai will comprise of Indian Forest Service officers and other officials of the department.
According to an order, a copy of which is in possession of news agency- Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the committee will act as a think tank on various aspects of the implementation of Forest Rights Act for the Forest department.

JAMMU, Dec 17: The Police Department has mooted a proposal for promotion of two more Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGPs) as Director Generals of Police (DGPs), four IGPs as Additional DGPs, confirmation of four officiating DIGs as full-fledged DIGs and higher grades in favour of SSPs and SPs.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has kept with itself the powers to promote Additional DGPs as DGPs but delegated powers of promotion of the IPS officers up to the rank of Additional DGPs to the Jammu and Kashmir Government, official sources told the Excelsior.

JAMMU, Dec 17: Taking serious note of delay in completion of languishing projects by several departments, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Infrastructure Deve-lopment Finance Corporation (JKIDFC) and Financial Commissioner Finance Dr Arun Kumar Mehta has asked the concerned Administrative Secretaries to explain the reasons behind the same and initiate all the necessary steps to fast-pace the execution.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that during the review meeting of the Corporation held recently, its Chairman noticed slow pace of work on several projects which were sanctioned with sufficient funding despite the fact that Government has fixed a target of completion of 1300 more projects during the current financial year.

JAMMU, Dec 15: Sending a loud and clear message that corruption will not be tolerated at any cost, the Government has dismissed three officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department from the service of the Union Territory for their involvement in the infamous Kupwara food scam.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the year 2016 had found large scale irregularities in the FCI’s stock management in Kupwara wherein it was found that several truck-loads of ration had gone missing.
In the 7th phase, a total of 298 candidates were in the electoral fray. In Kashmir division, there were 148 candidates including 34 female candidates. In Jammu division, there were 150 candidates, including 38 female contenders, for the 18 DDC constituencies.
A total of 1,852 polling stations were designated with 1,068 in Kashmir division and 784 in Jammu division. All polling stations in Kashmir were categorised in sensitive and hyper sensitive catagory.
Beside 117 Sarpanch vacancies notified in the 7th phase, 30 have been elected unopposed. There was a contest in 69 constituencies and 231 candidates including 79 female were in fray.
Similarly, out of the total 1,270 Panch vacancies notified in this phase, 416 elected unopposed with 438 constituencies went for elections with 1,000 candidates contesting the elections including 287 female candidates.
