ILOILO CITY – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar has ordered an investigation on the alleged killing of a man who was mistaken for a drug suspect during a buy-bust operation here last June 29.
“I understand that there is already a motu proprio investigation on this, but with this allegation, I have already tasked the Internal Affairs Service to look into this new information so we can be enlightened,” Eleazar said in a statement released by the PNP.
The man, Karl Daniel Bolante, was allegedly killed by elements of the Police Station 1 and the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) last June 29 in Barangay North Baluarte in Molo District.
April 26, 2021 A DRUG personality died, while her live-in partner was injured in a shootout with operatives of Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-Western Visayas during a drug bust in Malaspina Street, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City Monday morning, April 26.
The fatality was identified as Hilda Trujillo. Injured was her live-in partner Xiever Louis Rosales, both residents of Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.
Both of them were tagged as high-value individuals (HVI) in Bacolod City.
Police Lieutenant Glen Soliman, team leader of RPDEU, said the suspects shot it out with operatives after sensing that they were dealing with a policeman around 8:20 a.m.

+ April 14, 2021 ANTI-DRUG operatives apprehended two suspects for alleged selling and possession of shabu in separate operations in Tacloban City Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
Tacloban City Drug Enforcement Unit led by Captain Eliezer Abellon, under the supervision of Major Edwin Cañamaque, arrested Erwin Toledo, a watchlisted drug personality in Barangay Payapay of the city.
Police, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, confiscated during the operation one sachet containing suspected, as a subject of sale; buy-bust money; and six sachets believed to containing shabu, which was recovered from the suspect s actual possession.
The drug items have an estimated market value of P20,000 and estimated weight of 1 gram, police said in the report.
SunStar March 08, 2021 UNTIL now, I still find it hard to believe that someone who is supposed to be detained in a secure facility like the Cebu City Jail can continue with his illicit activities.
How is that possible, you might ask?
