Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 28) The OCTA research team sounded the alarm over the upward trend of COVID-19 cases in Cebu province the past week which rose by about 67%.
The report dated Jan. 28 called Cebu a serious concern after the province averaged 147 new daily infections in the past seven days, when it only had 11 cases per day from the week before. The province s reproduction number of 1.57 even surpassed the nationwide rate of 0.96 in that period.

CEBU CITY – Travelers need not to pay for the documents required to enter the city.
The office of City Mayor Edgardo Labella office issued the advisory due to reported incidents wherein the Authority To Enter (ATE) documents were being sold in the port area.
“Securing ATE is free of charge. We are urging those who were asked to pay for the ATE to report to the police or to the Mayor’s Office,” the advisory read.
City Councilor Joel Garganera, chief of the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), confirmed that he had received reports of ATE certificates being sold.

Megawide, parent firm of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) concessionalre GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corp., said in a disclosure that it will invest P5.5 billion in the project. Civil works will start in March 2021.
“Our target (groundbreaking) date is in March and tuloy-tuloy na (we will continue with the civil works),” Megawide chief corporate affairs and branding officer Manuel Louie Ferrer said.
The City Government, on the other hand, granted Megawide exclusive use and possession of the project site.
