PROJECTS and activities to improve or sustain the environment make up most of the nine projects entered by Hastings in this year’s Australian Sustainable Community – Tidy Town awards.
Representatives from Mornington Peninsula Shire met with Keep Victoria Beautiful and Keep Australia Beautiful to present the projects as part of Hastings’ bid to win the tidy town award.

Draft Annual Budget 2021/22 open for public comment
Murrindindi Shire Council is pleased to present its draft Annual Budget for 2021/2022 for community feedback after it was endorsed for public exhibition at Council’s Scheduled Meeting on Wednesday 28 April.
Council’s Mayor Sandice McAulay said this budget is this Council’s first, following the October 2020 election where Councillors were elected to serve the community of Murrindindi Shire for a four year term.
‘It appears we have weathered the worst of the Coronavirus pandemic in Victoria. As your newly-elected Council, our focus is now twofold – to assist community recovery, post-pandemic and to create a budget that will help us to deliver the vision we are developing jointly with our community for our four year term.

Swinburnes 202023 Elevate RAP launched
Swinburne University of Technology and the Moondani Toombadool Centre have celebrated the university’s latest Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) at a ceremony at the new Aunty Dot Peters AM Flowering Grasslands on the Hawthorn campus.
The launch event, to be followed by similar gatherings at the Croydon and Wantirna Flowering Grasslands, was attended by Karen Mundine, CEO of Reconciliation Australia, John Kennedy MP, Member for Hawthorn, staff, students and members of the community.
The new 2020-23 Elevate RAP focuses on four key priorities: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination, cultural safety, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and embedding reconciliation across all parts of the organisation.
