Norwich A 21-year-old Norwich man faces sexual assault and child pornography charges following an investigation into an alleged assault involving a consensual relationship with a 15-year-old victim that occurred Feb. 17.
Christopher Weir, of 91 Summit St., second floor, was charged at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday with statutory second-degree sexual assault/consent, third-degree possession of child pornography and risk of injury to a minor/sexual contact. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond and was arraigned Tuesday in Norwich Superior Court.
Police said detectives started an investigation after receiving a complaint Feb. 17 from a 15-year-old alleged victim. Police said Weir was interviewed following a search warrant for his cellphone. Police said data and information extracted corroborated the victim’s allegations.
