Those nightmarish early years after the discovery of HIV and Aids have been charted in Russell T Davies’ It’s A Sin, the last episode of which aired on Friday.
Set in London at the start of the 1980s and spanning the decade, it follows a group of young gay men following their dreams in the capital and having the time of their lives – until the shadow of Aids appears.

A man has been taken to hospital after emergency services were involved in an eight-hour incident on a river in Norwich.
Norfolk police were called to Wherry Road at 2.30am on Friday following concerns for a man s safety in a canoe on Wherry Road.

Emergency services have been on the scene since 2.30am on Friday, February 19.
At least 246 frontline health and care workers have been identified after dying with coronavirus.
Through tributes from loved ones and confirmation through sources such as local NHS trusts and other authorities, the PA news agency has confirmed the names of health and social care workers who have died after contracting Covid-19 since March 11 2020.
This chronological list contains people who were working in roles shortly before their deaths where they were likely to come into contact with patients.
The figure is likely to be lower than the true number of workers who have died, as the names of some victims will not yet be in the public domain.
