What s new today? Scheduling and getting an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccination in Miami-Dade and Broward has not been easy, as thousands of seniors, and their caretakers, have learned. If you need to cancel your vaccine appointment, can you do so? Yes, but it s not easy everywhere. What if you have car trouble, can you reschedule your shot? It depends on the site.

Jan. 13 COVID-19 vaccines are now available in South Florida, and the rules on who can get a shot, where and when can be confusing.
Here s what you need to know:
What s new today? Coral Springs opened a COVID-19 vaccination site at the Coral Square Mall Wednesday. But there has been confusion. You do need an appointment despite some potentially misleading language you may have heard via some local radio stations, according to the city. Coral Square Mall location is a walk in with appointment (not drive thru) site. That does not mean walk up without an appointment.
The Memorial Healthcare System opened its phone lines Wednesday morning to fill up their next round of COVID-19 vaccines for seniors, but the spots were filled almost instantly.
The hospital system had a message on its website Wednesday that said all vaccine appointments have been filled but they will be reopened when they receive the next vaccine shipment.
Anyone wanting to schedule an appointment has to register with the hospital system s website, MyChart, or call 954-276-4340 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The hospital system has vaccination sites at the Memorial Regional Hospital Conference Center at 3501 Johnson Street in Hollywood and at Memorial Specialty Pharmacy at 9581 Premier Parkway in Miramar.
Vaccines are currently available only to seniors 65 and older and healthcare workers. Vaccines will be provided only by appointment, while supplies last.

Jan. 7 COVID-19 vaccines are now available in South Florida, and the rules on who can get a shot, where and when can be confusing.
Here s what you need to know:
What s new today? Miami-Dade will begin vaccinating people 65 and over at an appointment-only site, using leftover doses of the COVID-19 vaccine that had been partially reserved for a county fire department that ended up not using most of its allotment. Appointments became available online Thursday afternoon at miamidade.gov/vaccine. Slots filled up within 20 minutes at the most.
