Beijing [China], February 20 (ANI): China has amended its juvenile criminal law, which will take effect on March 1, thus bringing offenders as young as 12 under criminal punishment, reported The Straits Times.
The amended law stipulates that children aged 12 to 14 will now be held criminally liable for intentional homicide or intentional injury that leads to death or severe disability through extremely cruel means .

The future of Hungary depends on who will win the 2022 general elections, house speaker Lászlo Kövér said on commercial broadcaster Inforádió on Friday evening.
Kövér said most MPs of governing Fidesz want and can run in the 2022 elections, but added that decisions on candidates had not yet been taken. He said some politicians might be better able to contribute to the campaign on a national level, as central figures.
Köver said he would gladly continue the “campaign of results” in the run-up to the election, pointing to “successes of which the government can be proud” in the areas of economic policy, employment, family policy and demographic policy.
Speaker of Parliament Discusses Bilateral Ties With Chinese Counterpart
Speaker of Parliament László Kövér discussed bilateral ties, relations between China and eastern and central European countries, as well as the fight against Covid-19, in a videoconference with Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, on Friday.
In the call, Kövér thanked Li for the medical equipment China provided to Hungary during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic, parliament’s press chief told MTI.
Kövér also thanked China for selling some 5 million doses of its Covid vaccine to Hungary, of which the first 550,000 arrived in Budapest earlier this week. Li in turn thanked Kövér for Hungary having been among the first countries to offer help to China in curbing the pandemic.

A bipartisan group of senior US senators, led by Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bob Menendez (D-NJ), reintroduced legislation on Tuesday to help people from Hong Kong fearing persecution after the 2019-20 protests to gain refugee status in the US.
The bill, entitled the “Hong Kong Safe Harbor Act,” aims to “ensure those Hong Kongers who peacefully protested Beijing’s corrupt justice system, and have a well-founded fear of persecution, are eligible for Priority 2 Refugee status.” Rubio, Menendez and others first introduced the bill in June 2020. They said that the bill is in response to the People’s Republic of China’s “draconian national security law.”
