Crime Task Force arrests Knox man on drug charges in Clinton

The 7th Judicial District Crime Task Force arrested a Knoxville man at a Clinton address recently on drug and theft charges.
Dewey N. Anderson III, 42, was arrested and charged March 24 with the manufacture, sale, delivery, possession of; Schedule 1 (drugs), Schedule 2 drugs (2 counts), methamphetamine; theft over $10,000 and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in the Anderson County jail in Clinton as of Wednesday, April 7, on $226,000 bond, according to the jail website.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Office contacted agents with the 7th Judicial Crime Task Force to aid in conducting a narcotics investigation on March 24, a news release stated.
Investigation Leads to Improvement in Cannon County Evidence Room

An investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office has led to the improvement of how evidence is stored and inventoried within the Cannon County Sheriff’s Department.
The Comptroller’s Office was asked to review Cannon County’s evidence room and case file management by the 16
th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office. Investigators reviewed records and evidence dating back to February 28, 2002.
The investigation found numerous problems with how evidence was stored, secured, recorded, inventoried, and disposed of.
One .22 caliber revolver and 49 other items of evidence that were listed as being in department custody could not be located. The missing evidence included drugs, drug paraphernalia, and other miscellaneous evidence.
