Child Advocates of El Dorado County’s Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Deanna Santana as its new executive director. Deanna brings a wealth of strategic communication and leadership experience, along with a passion for protecting the youth in our communities.
A long-time resident of El Dorado County, Deanna has devoted her professional and personal life to serving others and her community. Deanna joined the staff at Child Advocates in 2019 as the program director. She has spent the last few years building relationships with staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners while building capacity to serve more youth in the community. Before joining Child Advocates, she worked for seven years in the Donate Life Community, managing hundreds of volunteers and motivating millions of Californians to join the organ and tissue donor registry. Cheers to the three new Court Appointed Special Advocates who were sworn in Tuesday by Marion County Circuit Court Judge Patrick Wilson. CASA volunteers provide abused and neglected children peace of mind and support as they have to maneuver the court system. Keep up the good work.

Children in L.A. County’s foster care system have a passionate booster in Charity Chandler-Cole. As the new chief executive officer of CASA of Los Angeles, she is fully committed to being a champion for youth and recruiting others to join the cause.
CASAs, Court Appointed Special Advocates, provide guidance and support to children who have entered the juvenile dependency system due to abuse or neglect by their parents. Chandler-Cole, who is the organization’s first African American CEO, brings a powerful combination of senior management expertise and lived experience to the nonprofit agency.

MILWAUKEE - A 2-month-old child was killed on Monday, April 26 near 29th Street and St. Paul Avenue; a 20-year-old Milwaukee man is behind bars in connection with the infant s death. Milwaukee police have ruled this a homicide.
As of Wednesday night, April 28, the man arrested in connection with this case had not been charged but is expected to be in the coming days. Meantime, local advocates who work day and night to prevent violence against children are speaking out.
