Trigg and Caldwell counties are slated to be targeted next as part of an effort to establish a Court Appointed Special Advocate program in counties across the commonwealth.
The two counties are now the only ones in western Kentucky that do not have such a program, noted Stephanie Moss, who is the CASA program director for CASA of West Kentucky.
Mossâ organization serves Ballard, McCracken, Livingston and Lyon counties and just expanded into the latter two counties on Feb. 24, when trained CASA volunteers for Livingston and Lyon were sworn in on that day by District Judge Natalie White.
White is a judge in Livingston, Lyon, Caldwell and Trigg counties.

Weatherford resident Eddie Burnett brings a life of education, military duty and volunteering to his new role as president of the NAACP Parker County/Weatherboard Branch 6321.
Burnett was born in a three-room house in Hitt Spur, MS, a place known more as farmland than a town.
âThere were six of us children with our two parents. Our home was bordered on three sides by cotton fields,â Burnett said. âMy family had worked for generations for the family that owned those fields. Everyone in my family was expected to plant, cultivate and pick cotton, and so was I. But I was fortunate to leave that life, and I grew up to be the first in my family to graduate from high school and college.â

GREAT FALLS â Several agencies in Great Falls are organizing a scavenger hunt as a fun and educational way to get outside and explore downtown.
The event will run from March 28 through April 3.

There will be six clues which will be displayed in the windows of downtown businesses. Each clue will contain a red letter. When you find all the letters it will reveal the secret code word that ties in with a display at The History Museum.
