The Green River District Health Department hopes to receive a COVID-19 vaccine âsoon,â according to Public Health Director Clay Horton.
The first priority, he said, will be getting critical care workers vaccinated, such as emergency management service workers and other health care workers with direct patient contact. Horton said he hopes to receive vaccinations by next week.
âIâm hopeful for next week, but we havenât received confirmation yet and we have seven counties and I donât know if weâll get all seven counties or if weâll just get some counties,â Horton said. âWeâre hoping to be notified of that within the next day or so,â he said on Thursday.

KENTUCKY (WFIE) - Gov. Andy Beshear announced 3,179 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 28 additional deaths on Friday afternoon.
Kentucky is reporting that 237,190 residents have tested positive since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The positivity rate currently stands at 8.59% statewide.
As of Sunday, 2,344 people have died across the commonwealth due to complications with COVID-19.
Beshear continues to urge Kentuckians to follow new holiday guidance with Christmas just around the corner.

On Friday, December 18, 2020 the Green River District Health Department (GRDHD) reported 282 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases with 163 in Daviess County, 8 in Hancock County, 69 in Henderson County, 3 in McLean County, 16 in Ohio County, 16 in Union County, and 7 in Webster County. The COVID-19 related deaths were both residents of Daviess County.
There have been 11,186 reported COVID-19 cases in the district to date.
The district-wide total of recovered cases is now 8,335 (74.5%).
52 reported confirmed cases are currently hospitalized.
586 (5%) have required hospitalization.
There have been 203 COVID-19 related deaths in the district.
The state of Kentucky is currently reporting 234,021 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2,316 statewide deaths.
